Workshop content

• Run on campus or on-line in two half days or a full day. A practical workshop providing an overview of HPC resources at Leeds and how to use them.
• A practical course with theory, demonstration and exercise.It will be useful if you are new to HPC in research or have used HPC elsewhere.The main purpose of the workshop is to help users gain the knowledge and skills to be an effective and considerate user of the HPC resources at Leeds.

• Syllabus:

  • Transferring data to and from HPC resources

  • Managing data on HPC resources

  • The job scheduler

  • Job submission, monitoring and cancellation

  • The module system

  • Developing scripts to run codes and applications

  • Benchmarking and analysing how jobs scale

Prerequisites

• A HPC user account (Click here to get an account - a process that typically takes at least 1 full working day)
• Familiarity with the Linux command line.
